PLAYOFF #4 v. Avon

This game will be played at Byers Field in Parma - we are the "home team." This means we will be performing pregame. Due to the holiday, there will be NO WEDNESDAY EVENING REHEARSAL. We will rehearse pregame and halftime performances during school on Tuesday.


Even with the holiday, students are expected to attend the game on Friday evening.

LAKEWOOD BAND SHOW - Sept 17

This Saturday, we travel to Lakewood, Ohio for the Lakewood High School Band Show. It will be a great night to watch other fantastic band programs from the Cleveland area. We also get the opportunity to watch a college band perform!


The following is important information for Saturday, September 17:


Call Times:
Percussion - 4:00pm
Woodwinds - 4:05pm
Brass - 4:10pm


Upon arrival to AHS Band Room:
Members must move their instrument to the band trailer (flutes and clarinets travel in band bags, not the trailer)


Bring in Band Bag:
*white gloves


At 7:00pm in Lakewood, the event begins with a Parade-of-Bands followed by the performance from each group. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend the show. It will truly be an awesome time! The address of the stadium is 14100 Franklin Blvd, Lakewood, OH.

NEW ABSENCE REQUEST SYSTEM

To request an excused absence, please use the new online system on our website:
http://ftp.aurora-schools.org/ahs/band/abw_forms.html

This form is online only and instantly sends the request to the band office. After receiving the request, we will send a follow-up email with approval of absence or decline of absence. If the absence is declined, the student is expected at band.

Please note: the completion of the form does not guarentee an approval. Missing band for work-related issues is not excusable.

PRE-CAMP REHEARSALS

Monday, July 25, 6:30-8:30pm - Percussion Only
Tuesday, July 26 - Thursday, July 28, 6:30-8:30pm - Full Ensemble
*Students should be prepared to march during these rehearsals (shoes that tie are required).

Also at these rehearsals, members will register for band camp rooms and bus assignments for the season.

If your band packet is not complete, please take care of this as soon as possible. A student may be unable to attend band camp if the packet is not complete.

Please use the Absence Request Form on our website if the student will be missing any of the above rehearsals.

BAND CAMP 2011

Our annual band camp is upon us!
Please see below for more information.

Sunday, July 31:
All students need to arrive to the HS Bandroom by 12:30pm.
We will load the buses and leave.
If your family signed up to bring an item, please remember to bring it (ex. watermelon, popsicles, etc)
Any student bringing medication, even OTC medication - a blue form must accompany any medications, and it must be in the original container.

Remember to bring these items: instrument, music, music lyre, valve oil / reeds, many pairs of socks, tennis shoes , toothbrush, personal shower items, bedding (including a pillow), pencils, sunscreen, bug spray. There are many other items students should bring, please refer to our Band Camp Handbook for a comprehensive packing list.

Once we arrive to camp, we will move personal items into our assigned rooms/cabins, then move music equipment to the assigned locations. Then the fun begins!! We attend the Temple Grove Campground in Transfer, PA

4th OF JULY PARADE

For our community's 4th of July Parade, here is our rehearsal schedule:
June 30 - 6:30 to 8:30pm
July 1 - 6:30 to 8:30pm

These sessions are held at the high school band room. All members for the 2011-2012 high school band are required to attend these rehearsals and the parade. Students should be prepared to march during these rehearsals.

CONGRATS!

Our Concert Band and Symphonic Band attend the Ohio Music Education Association Large Group Adjudicated Event this past weekend. Both groups performed very well:

Concert Band earned a "III" meaning "Good"
Symphonic Band earned a "I" meaning "Superior"

GREENMEN PEP BAND CANCELLED

Due to weather, the Greenmen pep band scheduled for Tuesday, Feb 1 has been cancelled. We are looking into resceduling - information will be shared during class.
